This catalogue has been prepared to provide interested students with: 1. General information about the school, 2. Guidelines on matriculating at the school, and 3. An invitation to enroll in the school. Meet the President and Founder Dr. C. Dexter Wise III What do you get when you mix a bundle of bubbling, rare and enviable gifts of communication with a burning zeal to reach the world for Christ? You get the insightful and powerful pastor of Columbus, Ohio's Faith Ministries Interdenominational Church - Dr. C. Dexter Wise III. Dr. Wise has a very impressive background. He began singing gospel songs with his family in his hometown of Baltimore, MD. at the age of five; was called to preach at 12; licensed to preach at 16; ordained to the gospel ministry at 19; received BA from the University of Pennsylvania, Cum Laude in 1975 after having skipped a year; served as pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Providence, RI 1977-1982; received M.Div. from Harvard Divinity School, Magna Cum Laude, 1978; received MA from Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences 1980; received honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Virginia College and Seminary, in Lynchburg, VA 1980; served as pastor of Columbus, Ohio's historic Shiloh Baptist Church, 1982-1991; earned a Doctor of Ministry Degree from the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, May 1997. As the " Rappin' Reverend ", Dr. Wise recorded his first rap album "I Ain't Into That! " which was the number one song on the number one rhythm and blues station in Detroit, Michigan. The song soared to number fourteen on the dance charts in London, England in the summer of 1987. Other Rappin' Reverend publications are his book " I Ain't Into That! " (The Book) and his rap album, "Crack Attack". There is also a book called Be A Man which compliments his rap song on male responsibility. His latest publications are: The ABC’s of Effective Parenting; Stand: Seven Sermons for Saints in a Red Sea Situation; and No Place for A Prophet: An Unconventional Preacher Trapped in A Traditional Church. In November of 1991, Dr. Wise was led to organize Faith Ministries Interdenominational Church in Columbus, Ohio. This church grew from six members to more than 500 members in less than one month! Faith Ministries has had a weekly television ministry, a host of outreach ministries and has built a new church on a 29 acre plot of land in Columbus, Ohio. As the founder and President of a community development corporation called Faith In Action, Inc., Dr. Wise is responsible for an additional 20 acres of land on which sit 144 townhouse apartments with a replacement value in excess of $7 million. Dr. Wise, his wife Shirley, their three daughters, Sybil (Desi) , Sheri (James), Shonna, one son Ceylon (Ashley) and three grand daughters, Angela, Anye and Maya, make their home in the greater Columbus area.

Target Group In general, the C. Dexter Wise School of Ministry is for anyone who desires to grow in their knowledge of and relationship with Christ. However, it has been especially designed for: Young Preachers who have just accepted the call to ministry, are relatively new in the ministry, and/or want a firm footing of Bible teaching, preaching skills and sound Christian doctrine on which to stand as they preach. Associate Ministers who would like to develop and deepen their ministry foundation and skills as they serve in ministry under an established senior pastor. Accreditation Accreditation is a means of assuring the public that an institution meets accepted standards of quality and integrity. It developed in the United States early in the 20th century and has continued to be one of the cornerstones of America’s unparalleled achievement in higher educational quality and diversity. In many ways, the American system of higher education is the envy of the world. An accredited institution is one that: Has a clear and distinctive purpose widely understood and embraced throughout the institution; Has ascertainable goals deriving from the purpose; Has resources (students, faculty, learning resources, facilities, finances) adequate to assure that goals may continue to be achieved; Employs processes which ensure integrity and efficiency; Engages in continuous assessment, planning, and intentional resource allocation toward improvement; Substantially meets accrediting standards. (An unaccredited institution is not necessarily substandard or bogus. There are indeed worthy and worthwhile institutions which have for one reason or another chosen not to seek accreditation.) The C. Dexter Wise School of Ministry is one of more than 200 schools worldwide which are accredited by Accrediting Commission International of Beebe, Arkansas.Transfer of Credits No institution is forced to accept credits from another regardless of accreditation or lack thereof. It is always the prerogative of the receiving institution to determine whether and which credits will transfer. The transfer of credit from one institution to another usually involves at least three considerations: (1) The educational quality of the institution from which the student transfers, (2) The comparability of the nature, content, and level of credit earned to that offered by the receiving institution, and (3) The appropriateness and applicability of the credit earned to the programs offered by the receiving institution, in light of the student's educational goals.
Statement of Faith Of the Scriptures We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired, and is a perfect treasure of heavenly instruction; that it has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth without any mixture of error for its matter; that it reveals the principles by which God will judge us; and therefore is, and shall remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried. Of the True God We believe that there is one, and only one, living and true God, an infinite, intelligent Spirit, whose name is JEHOVAH, the Maker and Supreme Ruler of Heaven and earth; inexpressibly glorious in holiness, and worthy of all possible honor, confidence, and love; that in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; equal in every divine perfection, and executing distinct and harmonious offices in the great work of redemption. Of the Fall of Man We believe that man was created in holiness, under the law of his Maker; but by voluntary transgression fell from that holy and happy state; in consequence of which all mankind are now sinners, not by constraint, but choice; being by nature utterly void of that holiness required by the law of God, positively inclined to evil; and therefore under just condemnation to eternal ruin, without defense or excuse. Of the Way of Salvation We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly of grace, through the mediatorial offices of the Son of God; who by the appointment of the Father, freely took upon him our nature, yet without sin; honored the divine law by his personal obedience, and by his death made a full atonement for our sins; that having risen from the death, he is now enthroned in heaven; and uniting in his wonderful person the tenderest sympathies with divine perfections, he is every way qualified to be a suitable, a compassionate, and an all- sufficient Saviour. Of Justification We believe that the great gospel blessing which Christ secures to such as believe in him is Justification; that Justification includes the pardon of sin, and the promise of eternal life on principles of righteousness; that it is bestowed, not in consideration of any works of righteousness which we have done, but solely through faith in the Redeemer's blood; by virtue of which faith his perfect righteousness is freely imputed to us of God; that it brings us into a state of most blessed peace and favor with God, and secures every other blessing needful for time and eternity. Of the Freeness of Salvation We believe that the blessings of salvation are made free to all by the gospel; that it is the immediate duty of all to accept them by a cordial, penitent, and obedient faith; and that nothing prevents the salvation of the greatest sinner on earth but his own inherent depravity and voluntary rejection of the gospel; which rejection involves him in an aggravated condemnation. Of Grace in Regeneration We believe that, in order to be saved, sinners must be regenerated, or born again; that regeneration consists in giving a holy disposition to the mind; that it is effected in a manner above our comprehension by the power of the Holy Spirit, in connection with divine truth, so as to secure our voluntary obedience to the gospel; and that its proper evidence appears in the holy fruits of repentance, and faith, and newness of life. Of Repentance and Faith We believe that Repentance and Faith are sacred duties, and also inseparable graces, wrought in our souls by the regenerating Spirit of God; whereby being deeply convinced of our guilt, danger, and helplessness, and of the way of salvation by Christ, we turn to God with unfeigned contrition, confession, and supplication for mercy; at the same time heartily receiving the Lord Jesus Christ as our Prophet, Priest, and King, and relying on him alone as the only and all-sufficient Saviour. Of God's Purpose of Grace We believe that Election is the eternal purpose of God, according to which he graciously regenerates, sanctifies, and saves sinners; that being perfectly consistent with the free agency of man, it comprehends all the means in connection with the end; that it is a most glorious display of God's sovereign goodness, being infinitely free, wise, holy, and unchangeable; that it utterly excludes boasting, and promotes humility, love, prayer, praise, trust in God, and active imitation of his free mercy; that it encourages the use of means in the highest degree; that it may be ascertained by its effects in all who truly believe the gospel; that it is the foundation of Christian assurance; and that to ascertain it with regard to ourselves demands and deserves the utmost diligence. Of Sanctification We believe that Sanctification is the process by which, according to the will of God, we are made partakers of his holiness; that it is a progressive work; that it is begun in regeneration; and that it is carried on in the hearts of believers by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, the Sealer and Comforter, in the continual use of the appointed means--especially the Word of God, self-examination, self-denial, watchfulness, and prayer. Of the Perseverance of Saints We believe that such only are real believers as endure unto the end; that their persevering attachment to Christ is the grand mark which distinguishes them from superficial professors; that a special Providence watches over their welfare; and they are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation. Of the Harmony of the Law and the Gospel We believe that the Law of God is the eternal and unchangeable rule of his moral government; that it is holy, just, and good; and that the inability which the Scriptures ascribe to fallen men to fulfill its precepts arises entirely from their love of sin; to deliver them from which, and to restore them through a Mediator to unfeigned obedience to the holy Law, is one great end of the Gospel, and of the means of grace connected with the establishment of the visible Church. Of a Gospel Church We believe that a visible Church of Christ is a congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel; observing the ordinances of Christ; governed by his laws, and exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by his Word; that its only scriptural officers are Bishops, or Pastors, and Deacons, whose qualifications, claims, and duties are defined in the Epistles to Timothy and Titus. Of Baptism and the Lord's Supper We believe that Christian Baptism is the immersion in water of a believer, into the name of the Father, and Son, and Holy Ghost; to show forth, in a solemn and beautiful emblem, our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, with its effect in our death to sin and resurrection to a new life; that it is prerequisite to the privileges of a Church relation; and to the Lord's Supper, in which the members of the Church, by the sacred use of bread and wine, are to commemorate together the dying love of Christ; preceded always by solemn self- examination. Of the Christian Sabbath We believe that the first day of the week is the Lord's Day, or Christian Sabbath; and is to be kept sacred to religious purposes, by abstaining from all secular labor and sinful recreations; by the devout observance of all the means of grace, both private and public; and by preparation for that rest that remaineth for the people of God. Of Civil Government We believe that civil government is of divine appointment, for the interests and good order of human society; and that magistrates are to be prayed for, conscientiously honored and obeyed; except only in things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ who is the only Lord of the conscience, and the Prince of the kings of the earth. Of the Righteous and the Wicked We believe that there is a radical and essential difference between the righteous and the wicked; that such only as through faith are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and sanctified by the Spirit of our God, are truly righteous in his esteem; while all such as continue in impenitence and unbelief are in his sight wicked, and under the curse; and this distinction holds among men both in and after death. Of the World to Come We believe that the end of the world is approaching; that the last day Christ will descend from heaven, and raise the dead from the grave to final retribution; that a solemn separation will then take place; that the wicked will be adjudged to endless punishment, and the righteous to endless joy; and that this judgment will fix forever the final state of men in heaven or hell, on principles of righteousness.
II. Guidelines for Matriculation and Graduation
Admissions a. Online Application It is unbelievably easy to register for TWSM. All you have to do is: 1. Complete a simple online registration form. 2. Select your student status: a. Personal Enrichment where you take the courses for your own personal growth without having to be tested on how well you have mastered the material. (Similar to auditing a class) b. Certification where you will take the courses and take either a test or write a paper to demonstrate your mastery of the material. After you have received an 85% or better on the test you will be issued a Certificate of Completion for that specific course. c. Certificate and Diploma Programs where you will take a series of courses required for a Certificate or Diploma in Theological Studies, Biblical Studies or Practical Ministry. You will be tested to demonstrate your mastery of the material on each course. After you have received an 85% or better on the test after each course, you will be issued a Certificate of Completion for that specific course. Once you have successfully passed the tests on all the courses required for your area of concentration, you will be issued the appropriate Certificate or Diploma at the next scheduled graduation ceremony. The courses required for a Certificate are designed to take two years to complete. The courses designed for a Diploma are designed to take three years to complete. However, you may go at your own pace and take more or less time. 3. Agree to follow school policies and procedures. 4. Indicate whether you will pay for your classes by credit card or debit card. 5. b. Standard Application Students may apply to TWSM by completing an official application form and forwarding it to the school. They will be notified of their acceptance. c. Application Guidelines Application to TWSM is free. However, students must be accepted in order to pursue the Certificate and Diploma Programs. Credit for such completed courses will only be given after appropriate tuition and fees have been paid. d. Evaluation for Advance Placement Certificate fees - $75.00 Diploma and Advanced Diploma fees - $100.00 Advanced Credit fees are as follows: Certificate $10.00 per credit Diploma $20.00 per credit Advanced Diploma $50.00 per credit e. Credit for Advance Standing At TWSM, we believe that students who are experienced in phases of ministry, who have mastered knowledge in certain areas of life and the Bible, or those who have a general knowledge or life experience can receive credit for that knowledge and gain Advance Standing. Students may receive an Advance Standing Credit [ASC] in one of three ways or a combination of the three: [1] Christian Experience, [2] Work Experience, and [3] Education. It is the prospective student’s responsibility to submit all validating documents including petition for Advance Standing and/or a Christian resume. This information will be reviewed by an Evaluation Team. Students requesting advanced credit may be required to demonstrate their knowledge on various qualifying tests which, if passed with a B or better, may result in their receiving advanced credit. f. Transfer of Credits When attempting to transfer credits, students must request an official copy of their previous college transcripts which must be sent directly to the Director of Admissions at TWSM. The transcript must indicate courses entered, in progress, or completed, results of aptitude and other special test taken and evidence of good standing. TWSM welcomes transfer students with the desire to mature in their vocation and/or ministry. Students transferring are expected to complete a minimum of 30 credit hours [one year of study] at TWSM before being eligible for graduating unless otherwise specified by the Evaluation Team.
Other Academic Information a. Policies In considering applications for course work leading to certificates or diplomas, the applicant is assessed by TWSM; the reviews are made of the applicant’s complete academic record, recommendations, and personal information. After the applicant has been accessed he/she will be placed in the appropriate program. Any certificate or diplomas received from TWSM are by no means an indication that TWSM is or has recommended the student for licensing or ordination. This decision is left entirely up to each individual ecclesiastical organization. TWSM can, however, assist individual local congregations with the preparation of a minister for licensing and/or ordination. b. Grading TWSM uses the following grade scale: 100 - 93 A - 4.0 92 - 90 B+ - 3.5 89 - 85 B - 3.0 84 - 80 C+ - 2.5 79 - 75 C - 2.0 74 - 70 D - 1.0 69 - 00 F - 0.0 Pass P Incomplete I All grades are considered final and are not subject to change except for errors in calculation. In order to receive a certificate or diploma, students must have a 3.0 (or B) overall GPA. The student’s copy of the grades will be mailed to the student’s address by the Registrar within 30 days after the completion of the semester, if all academic requirements have been met and fees have been paid. c. Course Completion Students are expected to complete all course work as specified by the instructor in a timely manner. Students are given six months to complete individual courses; two years to complete a certificate program and three years to complete a Diploma program. If the student has to extend a course or program, an extension may be given upon written request to the Instructor. [A fee may be assessed for this extension]. d. Course Papers All course papers are to be typed, unless otherwise specified by the instructor in an individual course. There are no exceptions for Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertations. The outline for these research papers is found in “A Manual for Writer of Term papers, Thesis and Dissertation” by Katie L. Turabian. e. Class Attendance Class attendance in courses taught live is necessary for completion of assignments, notes, test and practicums. All students must set a realistic schedule, so assignments can be completed. f. Taking Courses Online Once students have registered and are ready to begin their classes, they simply: 1. Select their course. 2. Authorize payment for their selection via credit card or debit card. 3. Log into the class. 4. Write down the course pass code so that they can get back into the course at a later time if necessary. 5. Take the course by reading it, listening to it and or watching it. 6. If the student is taking the class for personal enrichment, they go through the presentation, then when they are done, they can move on to the next class(es) as they wish. 7. If the student is taking the class for credit or certification, they must take the required test to demonstrate their command of the course information. Once they have successfully received 85% or higher on the test, they may proceed to take other courses repeating the same process. Online students may take the test as many times as it takes for them to pass it. There is to be a three day interval between tests! 8. Each type of Certificate or Diploma will require a certain series of classes. Once these classes have been successfully completed, Certificates and/or Diplomas will be awarded at the designated time of the year. g. Taking Courses by Audio and Video Tape TWSM offers its students the option of taking their courses via audio or video tape. Once, it has been determined that the desired course is available on audio or video cassette tape (also CD or DVD), the student would register for the course and pay for the course as if it were a live or online class. In most cases, the cost of the audio tapes are included in the cost of the course. Video tapes may be extra. After the tapes have been ordered and the course work has been received, the student is then to listen to the tapes and complete the printed notes which may come with the course. Next, these completed notes are to be returned to the school for review. A test for that course will be sent to the student. Once the student takes and satisfactorily completes it, a grade and credit will be given for the course. h. Certificates and other Recognition TWSM offers the following in recognition of satisfactorily completed course work: 1. Certificates of Completion for individual courses 2. Certificate in Biblical Studies 3. Certificate in Theological Studies 4. Certificate in Practical Ministry 5. Diploma in Biblical Studies 6. Diploma in Theological Studies 7. Diploma in Practical Ministry 8. Advanced Diploma in Biblical Studies 9. Advanced Diploma in Theological Studies 10. Advanced Diploma in Practical Ministry TWSM does not offer degrees. However, through a partnership with Faith Christian University and Schools of Maryland, TWSM students may, at their option register and jointly matriculate with Faith Christian University and Schools. Upon completion of the number of credits required and paying a graduation fee, students will be able to graduate simultaneously from TWSM with a Certificate or Diploma and a comparable Associate, Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from Faith Christian University and Schools. i. Graduation Requirements The completion of the prescribed program with a passing average grade of 3.0 or better in a 4.0 grading system is required for students at the certificate and diploma level. The settlement of all financial obligations to the school, the completion of a “Petition for Graduation” are required before graduation. Graduating students are to make their own arrangements to lease or purchase a cap and gown for the graduation ceremony.
Finances a. Tuition Unless otherwise specified, Tuition for TWSM is as follows: $25.00 per credit plus books, tapes and/or class materials - Audit $40.00 per credit plus books, tapes and/or class materials - Certificate $50.00 per credit plus books, tapes and/or class materials - Diploma $60.00 per credit plus books, tapes and/or class materials - Advanced Diploma b. Terms of Payment Unless other arrangements have been made, tuition and matriculation fees must be paid on or before entrance to courses. C. Dexter Wise School of Ministry Course Descriptions I. Biblical Studies Tutorials: 1100 The Pentateuch and Old Testament History (1). This course provides the student with an overview of the books of the Bible that are found in the Pentateuch (First Five) and in what is commonly called the History of Early Israel in the Old Testament. 1101 The Writings and the Old Testament Prophets. (1) This course builds upon the prior course and provides the student with an overview of the books of the Bible that are found in the section generally referred to as Wisdom Literature and the books in the section of the Bible known as the Major and Minor Prophets. 1102 The People of the Old Testament. (1) This offers a biographical sketch on many of the characters and personalities that are found in the pages of the Old Testament. While by no means exhaustive, the course does provide the student with a strong introduction to whom they will no doubt encounter when studying or reading the Bible. 1103 The Apocrypha. (1) This course is the final course in the series that examines the content of books found in the Bible. Its focus is upon the “Inter-Testamental Books” found between the pages of the Old Testament and the New Testament. 1104 The Gospels and New Testament Church History. (1) This course builds upon the courses on the Old Testament, but jumps the student to the New Testament and provides an overview of the books that are called gospels and the book dedicated to the history of the early church, Acts. 1105 The New Testament Epistles. (1) This course provides the student with an overview of the remaining books in the New Testament and offers to the students a description of the Pauline, Petrine and Johannine letters of the New Testament. 1106 The People of the New Testament. (1) This course provide biographical descriptions of many of the key persons and characters found in the pages of the New Testament. 1107 Important Dates in the Bible. (1) This course introduces the student to many, if not all of the important dates that are discussed in the Bible. The objective of the course is to provide the student with a clear picture of the timeline covered in the pages of the Bible. 1108 Important Places in the Bible. (1) This course introduces the student to many, if not most of the important places that are discussed in the Bible. The objective of the course is to make the student knowledgeable of the places that are referenced in the Bible. 1109 General Knowledge of the Bible. (1) This course offers the student an overview of the customs, traditions, festivals and holidays that are mentioned in the Bible. By so doing, the course intends to provide the student with a strong contextual understanding of their biblical studies. 1110 Canonization of the Bible. (1) This course provides a rigorous overview of the path taken to produce what the church community now refers to as the Holy Bible. The course takes the student on a historical journey that traces the many difficult obstacles the Bible had to overcome in order to be viewed as the official sacred literature of the church. 1111 Bible Translations. (1) Beyond its canonization, the Bible has been translated over time into a number of different languages and cultures. This course provides the student with an insightful picture of that journey. Audio/Video Courses: 1200 Introduction to the Study of the Bible. (1) Before a person can become a Bible scholar, they must first know how to be a Bible student. This course is required of all students to make sure that they are familiar with various approaches to and skills in the study of scripture. 1201 Introduction to the Old Testament. (2) In these lectures, students delve deeper into the make up of the Old Testament and learn about its theological themes. 1202 From Dust to Glory I. (3) This course is based on the teaching series of Dr. R. C. Sproul. Part one focuses on the Old Testament and takes the student from creation, through the law and up to the Old Testament prophets. 1300 Introduction to the New Testament. (2) In these lectures, students delve deeper into the make up of the New Testament and learn about its theological themes. 1301 From Dust to Glory II. (3) Part two of Dust to Glory is based on Dr. R.C. Sproul’s continuation of his insightful series on the Bible from the beginning to the end of the New Testament. 1302 Thank God for Jesus: A Study of the Letter to the Hebrews. (3) In this course, Dr. Wise explains, exegetes and does exposition on the Letter to the Hebrews. The writer of Hebrews’ basic point is that what we have in Jesus is far better than what preceded Him in Judaism. That’s why we ought to thank God for Jesus. 1303 The Pauline Epistles. (3) The Apostle Paul is credited with writing almost half of the New Testament. No study of the New Testament would be complete without some serious focus on this man and the letters which bear his name. This is the objective of this course. II. Spiritual Disciplines Audio/Video Courses: 2200 Successful Saints. (2) This course address the issue of success as it relates to believers in Christ. It includes the following lectures: Seven Habits of Successful Saints; The Meaning of Success; The Measures of Success; and The Model of Success. 2201 Introduction to Christian Stewardship. (3) This series of four lectures introduces students to Christian Stewardship and teaches them how to lead others into deeper stewardship of their tithe, time and talent. Introduction to Christian Stewardship; Tithing From A Spiritual Perspective; Stewardship of Time and Talent; and How to Lead Others into Deeper Stewardship. 2203 Spiritual Gifts: Discovery and Decision. (1) This seminar helps believers to understand the concept of spiritual gifts and shows them how to identify and activate their own spiritual gifts. 2204 The Power and Practice of Prayer. (1) Prayer is not only a privilege, it is a discipline which, if properly practiced, can and will bring great benefits to the believer. This course teaches the power of prayer and how to integrate it into your everyday life. 2205 Seven Habits of Successful Saints. (1) Point to a successful saint and that person will invariably be someone who exhibits certain basic traits. Dr. Wise has identified seven of these traits and discusses them in this course.
III. Theology Audio/Video Courses 3200 Introduction to Theology. (3) In this course, students will be introduced to the history and contemporary study of theology. Lectures in this area include: Types of Theism; Existence of God; The Attributes of God; The Nature of God; Christology (The Study of Christ); Pneumatology (The Holy Spirit); The Holy Trinity; and The Problem of Evil. 3201 Christian Doctrine I. (3) This course examines various tenets of Christian doctrine through a study a 150 year old Baptist creed called the New Hampshire Confession. Whether a person is Baptist or not, this course will help them face and flesh out their own understanding of what the Bible teaches on various fundamental areas of our faith such as: Creeds and Confessions; The Scriptures; The Way of Salvation; Repentance; Faith; Baptism; and The Lord’s Supper. 3202 Christian Doctrine II. (3) This course concludes the examination of various tenets of Christian doctrine through a study a 150 year old Baptist creed called the New Hampshire Confession. It includes such “ologies” as theology, Christology, pneumatology, ecclesiology, soteriology, demonology, and eschatology. 3204 Types of Theism. (3) In this course, Dr. Wise explores and explains different types of ways which people historically have envisioned God. The course will discuss and review writings representative of atheism, polytheism, henotheism, monotheism, pantheism and panentheism. 3205 Understanding Faith. (3) Here Dr. Wise opens up one of the most fundamental concepts and keys to Christianity. In this course, he teaches about the principles of faith, the practice of faith, people of faith and models of biblical faith. 3206 Foundations of the Christian Faith I. (3) Foundations of the Christian Faith is based on a course with the same name by Dr. R. C. Sproul. As it’s name suggests, it deals with foundational beliefs and doctrines of Christianity. Part one covers: theology,anthropology, Christology. 3207 Foundations of the Christian Faith II. (3) Foundations of the Christian Faith II is a continuation of Dr. R. C. Sproul teaching on foundational beliefs and doctrines of Christianity. Part two covers: pneumatology, soteriology, ecclesiology and eschatology. 3208 Great Theologians - The first 1000 years. (3) With this course the student will be exposed to and will trace the biography and thinking of key theologians in the church from the early church to the beginning of the middle ages. 3209 Great Theologians - The second 1000 years. (3) The study of key theologians in the Christian church continues in part two. Here, students begin with the middle ages and come forward to the 21st. 3210 Power Words. (3) In this course, students will be introduced to a host of basic theological terms which they will then be able to have and use as a firm foundation for understanding of the history of Christian theology. IV. Church History Tutorials: 4100 African Influence on Christianity. (1) This course is based upon the work of the brilliant scholar Dr. Obannaya who is an accomplished academician with expertise in Africa’s relationship to Christianity. In this course, the student is offered some little known facts about Africa’s involvement with early Christianity. 4101 African Influence on Western Theology. (1) This course discusses the presence and influence of Africa on Christianity beyond the early days of the church. The student is introduced to a number of personalities who had a great impact on what we believe and how we think today. Audio/Video Courses: 4200 African Influence on Christianity. (3) This course addresses the major influence that Africa and Africans have had on the development of Christianity. It will include lectures on: The Black Presence in the Bible; What Color Was Jesus?; and The History of the African American Church. 4201 Overview of Church History I. (3) In this course, the student will be introduced to the history of the Christian church throughout its first 1000 years. It will concentrate on actual history, controversies, councils and other important dates, times and places in the church’s past. 4202 Overview of Church History II. (3) In part two of this course, the student will be introduced to the history of the Christian church throughout its second 1000 years. It, too, will concentrate on actual history, controversies, councils and other important dates, times and places from about 1000 AD to the present. 4203 The Black Church in America. (3) The unique expression of Christianity called the Black Church will be examined in this course. Its history, formation and impact on the Black community and American culture will be elevated.
V. Practical Ministry General Ministry Tutorials: 5000 Understanding Your Call. (1) This course, based on a book by Dr. C. Dexter Wise III called Answering the Call to Ministry, helps the student to crystallize their understanding of what it means to hear and answer a call to ministry. 5001 A Ministry of Service. (1) This course is based upon the work of Pastor John Fonzer and is dedicated to helping the students better understand their role as a servant. While particularly aimed at the office of the “armor bearer” the contents of the course are ideal for all those who are serious about ministry. Audio/Video Courses 5003 Divine Babies. (3) This course is designed to help people in ministry give birth to what God has conceived in them. It will explain what a Divine Baby is and then take you step by step through the stages of its development and your requirements. Church Administration 5100 Introduction to Church Administration. (3) The church is an organism and an organization. This course deals with the organization dimension of the church. It will explore and compare various ways of organizing and administering a local church congregation. 5302 How to Run Your Church From the Pulpit. (3) This unique course shows pastors how to understand and use the power of the pulpit to administer their church as they proclaim the word of God. 5103 How to Get to the Other Side. (1) is a series of three sermons which was preached by Dr. Wise on the island of Bermuda for the United Holy Church Convention. Its principle aim is to help churches as a group and individual Christians to move from the safe and comfortable shore where they are through the some time stormy seas to where God wants them to be. The sermons in the series are: How to Get to the Other Side; The Sea Between Here and There; and Stepping Out of the Boat. 5104 How to Reach the Masses. (1) Mass media has become an instrument by which secular culture broadcasts its values and sells it products. This same media can, however, be used to spread the gospel. (3) Bishop Andy Lewter will share in this course simple secrets on how to use modern technology to do ministry both inside and outside of the church. This course is a must for anyone with a desire to communicate with a 21st century world. 5606 How to Run a Revival. (2) The noted and gifted national evangelist, Rev. Manual Scott Jr. of Los Angeles, CA uses this courses to teach students everything they need to know about planning, promoting and preaching a revival in the local church. This is truly a much needed course for those who desire to grow their churches and their preaching ministry. Couples Ministry 5200 Introduction to Couples Ministry. (3) For those persons who feel they have a calling to minister to couples, this course will introduce them to key concepts and give them basic skills on how to do it effectively. 5201 Are You Ready for This.
