in Basic Studies
The Wise School of Ministry's Certificate of Basic Studies
is a complete course of studies for those who seek a solid foundation for Bible study, theological study, Christian Doctrine,
church history and spiritual growth. These thirteen courses lay the ground work upon which ministries in teaching, preaching,
evangelism and virtually any other leadership position in the church may stand and develop.
This collection of
courses, all taught on CD's and DVD's by Dr. C. Dexter Wise III, is equal to 35 credit hours in The C. Dexter Wise
School of Ministry. Taking theses courses in the school at the regular rate would cost $1,400.00 per person.
However, for a limited time only this complete program is being offered at an incredibly affordable price
of just $499.00 per person!(Courses are $50 each if taken separately)
At
the completion of this series of courses students will be awarded a Certificate in Basic Studies from The Wise School
of Ministry and may apply to receive an Associates Degree in Basic Studies from The Faith Christian University in Washington,
DC.
The first classroom sessions start on October 13, 2008 with graduation set for June 28, 2009. Courses must
be paid for in full or payments arranged by the beginning of each session.
What's
Being Offered
Here's is a list and description of the courses included:
Biblical Studies:
Introduction to the Study of the Bible. (3) Before a person can become
a Bible scholar, they must first know how to be a Bible student. This course is required of all students to make sure that
they are familiar with various approaches to and skills in the study of scripture.
Introduction to the Old
Testament. (2) In these lectures, students delve deeper into the make up of the Old Testament and learn about its theological
themes.
Introduction to the New Testament. (2) In these lectures, students delve deeper into the make
up of the New Testament and learn about its theological themes.
Theological Studies:
Introduction to Theology. (3) In this course, students will be introduced to the history and contemporary study
of theology. Lectures in this area include: Types of Theism; Existence of God; The Attributes of God; The Nature of God; Christology
(The Study of Christ); Pneumatology (The Holy Spirit); The Holy Trinity; and The Problem of Evil.
Christian
Doctrine I. (3) This course examines various tenets of
Christian doctrine through a study a 150 year old Baptist
creed called the New Hampshire Confession. Whether a person is Baptist or not, this course will help them face and flesh out
their own understanding of what the Bible teaches on various fundamental areas of our faith such as: Creeds and Confessions;
The Scriptures; The Way of Salvation; Repentance; Faith; Baptism; and The Lord's Supper.
Christian Doctrine
II. (3) This course concludes the examination of
various tenets of Christian doctrine through a study a 150 year
old Baptist
creed called the New Hampshire Confession. Whether a person is Baptist
or not, this course will help
them face and flesh out their own understanding of what the Bible teaches on various fundamental areas of our faith such as:
Justification; Regeneration; Sanctification; Adoption; Law and Gospel; The Sabbath; and Perseverance of the Saints.
Church History:
Overview of Church History I.
(3) In this course, the student will be
introduced to the history of the Christian church throughout its first 1000
years. It will concentrate on actual history, controversies, councils and other important dates, times and places in
the church's past.
Overview of Church History II. (3) In part two of this course, the
student
will be introduced to the history of the Christian church throughout its second 1000 years. It, too, will concentrate on actual
history, controversies, councils and other important dates, times and places from about 1000 AD to the present.
Practical Ministry:
Introduction to Christian Stewardship.
(3) This series of four lectures
introduces students to Christian Stewardship and teaches them how to lead others into
deeper stewardship of their tithe, time and talent. Introduction to Christian Stewardship; Tithing From A Spiritual Perspective;
Stewardship of Time and Talent; and How to Lead Others into Deeper Stewardship.
Personal Evangelism. (2)
In this one hour seminar, Dr. Wise gives a
simple and effective way to do personal evangelism.
How to
Win Family and Friends to Christ. (3) Sometimes the people we know the best are the most difficult to win to Christ.
Dr. Wise teaches in this course why this is the case and what to do about it.
Personal Spiritual Growth:
The Power and Practice of Prayer. (1) Prayer is not only a privilege, it is a discipline which, if properly
practiced, can and will bring great benefits to the believer. This course teaches the power of prayer and how to integrate
it into your everyday life.
Successful Saints. (3) This course address the issue of success as it relates
to believers in Christ. It includes the following lectures: Seven Habits of Successful Saints; The Meaning of Success; The
Measures of Success; and The Model of Success.

to Take the Courses
The courses can be taken:
In a classroom via video
tape proctored by a knowledgeable teacher with question and answer sessions live with Dr. Wise.
Or
By
correspondence where all of the tapes and notes are delivered to the student. The student can complete each course at his
or her own pace by turning in the study questions and exams for each course as he or she completes it.
Once completed,
credit for these courses can be applied towards more advanced certificates and Diplomas offered by The Wise School of Ministry,
such as a Certificate in: Theological Studies, Biblical Studies or Practical Ministry as well as Diplomas in: Theological
Studies, Biblical Studies or Practical Ministry.
